Two Must-Haves for Your Purse or Bag

Posted on 18. Feb, 2010 by in Girly Stuff

I’ve read a few different magazine pieces in which celebrities confess the items that they must have in their purse at all times.

Those articles are usually good for a laugh, since most of us mere mortals can’t even afford the brands of stuff they claim they can’t live without, but I started thinking about the things that I always carry around in my purse.

1. Toilet Paper.

Go ahead and laugh, but after I experienced an hour-long wait for the ladies room at the Daytona International Speedway only to realize that the stalls were all out of paper and the sinks were all out of paper towels, I started carrying my own toilet paper in my purse.

You can find mini rolls of toilet paper near the travel-size shampoos and toothpastes. Alternatively, you could stick a small packet of tissues or baby wipes in your purse. You’ll thank me after you have your first emergency situation.

2. Scented Lotion

A small tube of scented lotion comes in handy if you are ever seated next to someone that has body odor. This sounds about as hilarious as the need to carry toilet paper in your purse, but believe me – it happens. One year we had Christmas brunch reservations at a fancy restaurant, and the woman at the table next to us smelled horrible – as if she needed a roll of toilet paper herself, if you know what I mean.

If you’re unable to get away, you can rub some hand lotion on yourself without looking too obvious, and the scent helps you out until you’re able to move away from the “problem.”

i didn’t know they made travel size t.p.
they probably make travel size everything though and i’m just oblivious due to my pathetic lack of travel :)
very good to know though. my mother-in-law always carries wipes but i’m a purse slacker. i have a faux coach bag with everything but the kitchen sink in it, so naturally i don’t carry it. i have made a point to start carrying lotion though. this cold weather is making my skin very dry.
you’d be proud of me, i got a mani/pedi today. haven’t had one since last june and even though it wasn’t a frugalista home job i think it was a well deserved treat. marie went with me and we had “sisterly bonding”. we even got ourselves some O.P.I. polish! woohoo!
she picked “OPI INK” and i got “AN AFFAIR IN RED SQUARE”. amazing what can be accomplished when you don’t spend all day on FB farming.
looking forward to the next blog. mwah!

Hey, I’m so jealous! I haven’t gone for a “real” pedicure since the week before my baby shower!! At the moment I’m just trying to do it myself and save a few bucks, but I’m gonna go to a nail salon soon. I love my OPI polish. They’re kinda pricey but if you just buy one here and there, it’s not too bad and your collection grows.

Bath and Body Works even has little tubes of antibacterial hand lotion that smell reaaallly good… I think they’re around $3 each which isn’t too bad. I don’t like regular anti-bac stuff like Purrell because it dries my skin so badly.
