2009 National Walk for Epilepsy

I am heading to Washington, D.C. with my husband, my daughter, and my parents at the end of the month to partcipate in the 2009 National Walk for Epilepsy on March 28, 2009. The 2-mile walk at the National Mall is being held to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation. I am the team captain for New Media Solutions, LLC and so far our team has raised over $200 for the foundation.

I began having seizures out of nowhere in December 2005 at age 26. I have since been diagosed as epileptic and I have to take an anticonvulsant to control my seizures. I am one of the lucky ones – some people have to take multiple anticonvulsant drugs, and some people have seizures on a daily basis. I have been seizure-free (knock on wood, cross your fingers, and all that jazz) since January 2008.

I want to participate in this fundraiser to help raise awareness about epilepsy and to show my friends and family that I am not letting it control my life even though at times it feels that it has.

The Walk is being hosted by Greg Grunberg of TV’s Heroes. He is also a member of the charity group Band from TV and you may remember him from the 90s TV show Felicity.
